DRY SEASON WATER CONSERVATION

Management of Aqua Vitens Rand Limited, acting for and on behalf of Ghana Water Company Limited as the Operator wishes to inform the general public that, the Harmattan and dry season is on and consumers will have to conserve and use water wisely so that the usual seasonal shortfall in water supply will not be felt.

Management is delighted that, there is currently additional water from the just completed Weija expansion Project, also known as East-West Interconnection, in the system and therefore the shortfall will be minimised but will be appreciated if consumers will manage the water to enable all consumers have enough.

In this vein, Management of AVRL advises consumer’s to observe the following water conservation measures;

  • Cease indiscriminate watering of lawns with treated water.
  • Moderate the use of treated water for car washing through the use of buckets instead of hosing.
  • Shut all taps when not in use
  • Repair all leakage in your homes, overflowing reservoirs and dripping taps.
  • Report all burst pipes and leakages immediately to the nearest AVRL/GWCL district offices, Customer Service Centre, Fault Offices and the Call Centre
  • Report all persons invovled in illegal connections, by-passes and all malpractices against AVRL/GWCL.

In December, 2008, the Company established a new Call Centre with toll free number 0800 40 000, and the general Public is encouraged to call free and make their complaints and enquiries related to water. Management will also appreciate it if Customers can also give a feedback on the water situation within their various communities.

Management is grateful to the general Public for the support to AVRL/GWCL in terms sympathising with the Company, understanding and appreciating the water situation and adhering to water conservation measures throughout the past year. We are committed to the provision of water in adequate quantities to our cherished consumers and we will not relent in our efforts for the realisation of this vision.
